Chris O’Connell began capturing the feathery phenomenons known as “hoar frost” and “rime ice” on morning shoots in his early years as a ski photographer. The infrequent climatic conditions occur when there’s high ground humidity and low air temperatures. To O’Connell, hoar frost and rime ice turn wintry woods into mythical lands.
